A Walk in Avon

The morning was quiet on our little street in Avon on Hatteras Island.  It's just a few hundred steps from our house to the sand, but I've found that so much lives in that space.  Rather than rushing to the beach, I took my time on my morning walk, stopping to photograph things along the way.  The doves were in their usual spot, perched high above the empty lot.  The morning glory vines were thick through the cedar trees, green tangled into each other while the purple popped out in contrast.

The sunlight peeked through the tangled mess of trees between our house and our neighbors, illuminating a single leaf on a Greenbrier vine.

At the corner, the sunlight streamed down in the mess of hazy, beautifully blinding me for a moment.

And just at the edge, a bee was spotted flittering through the web of plants.

When I reached the beach, the path was empty, most families were too busy packing up to head home at the end of their vacation.

Just a few hundred steps.  Filled with details so rich with life.  It's amazing what happens when you stop and look.
